Nearby Interstates 85 and 20 provide quick access to Birmingham, Atlanta and Montgomery from the Lake Martin region. While 1-65 provides direct access to Mobile, a major Gulf Coast sea port. A number of U.S. and state highways also serve our region. For example, U.S. Highway 280 dissects Tallapoosa County, creating quick access to major cities like Auburn, Opelika, Jacksonville, Birmingham and Columbus, GA. In addition, Highways 9, 22, 49, 50, 63 and U.S. Highway 231 help even out the traffic flow in our area.

Lake Martin residents can reach Montgomery's Dannelly Field in only 45 minutes for commercial air service. Dannelly Field provides service from all major air carriers and offers a number of direct flights to major cities. The Birmingham International Airport, located within an hour and a half from the Lake Martin area, combines an abundance of major airlines with 70 daily departures to 50 cities. The second busiest airport in the world, Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport, can be reached within two hours.

T. C. Russell Field in Alexander City offers 5,400 feet of paved and lighted runway. T. C. Russell Field can accommodate large corporate planes or small private aircraft. Willow Point, a private airstrip, provides additional service for private or corporate planes.

Only 35 miles away, Montgomery provides daily switching service through Western Railway of Alabama. In addition, Norfolk Southern Railway services our region and provides a connection with CSX and Conrail.
